having your own car = freedom . . . but sometimes it shouldn't

This is Teagan in his new car. I have been wanting to get him one of these ever since we took him to the Children's Museum and he got to try one out. He loved it so much, I had to literally pry him out of it when some other kid wanted a turn. They are kind of expensive to buy new and I wasn't able to find a used one. (I searched the ksl.com classifieds obsessively) I had just decided that we wouldn't be able to get one, and then I was browsing the options for the reward points we had earned on our credit card and this was one of them! So, I got a brand new one for FREE! (It pays to pay off your balance each month!)

Today, Darryl and I were studying for finals at my parents house because we needed their printer, (We don't have ours set up yet.) and all of the sudden it got a little too quiet. We realized that Teagan must have gone upstairs. He usually likes to go upstairs to play when he gets bored with being downstairs. We stopped our homework and Darryl went upstairs while I looked around on the main floor and basement just in case he had gone there. Neither of us could find him. Panic immediately set in and we searched all over the house! He likes to hide lately so we were checking closets and everything, but still no Teagan.

Then, I noticed the cover on the dog door was gone, so I ran outside. Sure enough, Teagan had climbed out the dog door, and down the steps to play outside. I found him out on the basketball court riding in his new Little Tikes car. I was so relieved! I had never been that worried in my life!

I told him, "Just because you have a car now, doesn't mean you get to take off whenever you want." He just smiled and ran over my foot.

The power of influence

Devin decided to teach Teagan how cute it is to head-butt people. Teagan caught on and I was given a bloody nose today.

Easter and then some . . .

Every month, my family has dinner together on the second Sunday. We have been doing this for over a year now and it works out great. You never need to coordinate schedules for a big family gathering, it's just always our standing appointment, the second Sunday of every month. That is also the day we celebrate as a family any birthdays that occur in the month. This month, the second Sunday not only fell on Easter, but on my parent's 30th anniversary and we celebrated Devin's birthday. (which was the next day)

We had a wonderful dinner of steak and crab legs. (The birthday boy got to pick the menu.) We played games and had a lot of fun. I really look forward to the second Sunday each month. I really love spending time with my family. They are the best. We have so much fun together.

I can't believe my parents have been together for 30 years! They have been a wonderful example to their children in surviving and enjoying marriage. They have certainly been through a lot. I think any couple that have remained together that long has. I am so glad they got to go on one of their dream vacations to Cancun! My mom even went scuba diving! I never thought she would do it. I only say this because I am WAY too chicken to go. It's just too out of my element.

It was a really fun day. Easter morning was especially fun watching Teagan discover his Easter basket. It was so funny when he realized that there was candy in the plastic eggs and that shaking them was only half the fun!

He turned into a little sugar fiend and refused everything that wasn't sweet for a few days afterward. He is back to eating his veggies now, but that stubborn little guy won't eat meat! He just doesn't like it and never really has. I guess it's my dad's fault. He doomed him from the beginning. When Teagan was born my dad jokingly stated that nothing rhymed with Teagan but Veagan. So my little guy has turned into Teagan the Veagan. . . sort of. (He still loves milk) I can sometimes trick him into eating meat but only if it's drowning in ketchup. (He must be related to Blake)

I have some adorable pictures of Teagan on Easter morning but since the move to our new place, I can't seem to locate the cord I need to load them onto the computer. Oh well. I will get around to it eventually.

Since the main purpose of this blog is journaling, I am throwing in cute stuff Teagan has done recently. He LOVES Devin and whenever he sees Devin or even just a picture of Devin he smiles so big and says "Hi De de!" It's adorable. Devin loves it, and my mom is insanly jealous. (which Devin also loves)

Teagan finally got to meet Cameron. He was so excited to see her and loved giving her his version of a hug which just means nuzzling his cheek up to her. He doesn't use his arms in a hug at all. He just puts his head on you. It's funny. He loved Cameron as long as I wasn't holding her. When I held her, he got cranky and eventually started crying and clung to my leg and reached up for me to hold him. It just broke my heart. I guess he loves babies, but he still wants to be my baby. Good thing he still is. Don't worry Teag, you haven't been replaced. I do love that little niece to pieces though. She has the face of an angel. So that makes it 2 for 2 on the I-have-a-niece-so-cute-it-makes-me-hope-I-have-a-girl-somday tally.

Speaking of my other niece, I get to see my little Gladey-bug tomorrow! I am so excited! I haven't seen her since January. It will only be a short visit, as this trip is going to be a boring work trip, but a brief stop in Cedar will make it worth it.

Oh, and another adorable thing Teagan did today: I was singing to him this morning and he plugged his ears! I laughed pretty hard. It wasn't just his hands covering his ears either. He had both fingers shoved clear in his ears. I guess he doesn't appreciate his Good Morning song as much as I thought. It was pretty darn cute and made me smile.

She is here!

I have a new niece! Her name is Cameron Grace Poole and she is just adorable. Teagan hasn't gotten to see her yet, but I can't wait until he does. He LOVES babies. I know he will be so excited to have a new cousin.

Quick Update

So I didn't finish posting everything that happened in March and here it is April. I still have catching up to do. Darryl and I (and of coarse Teagan) had been living with my parents, and we would periodically check apartment prices in the area and we found a deal we just couldn't pass up! We moved to an apartment not too far from where my parents live since I will still have my mom watch Teagan while I work. I am really excited about it. It has been so nice having our own place. We really enjoyed living with my parents, but nothing compares to having a place of your own. It's a two bedroom apartment, nothing too fancy, but I love it! Here are a few reasons why: It has a spacious pantry in the kitchen, lots of closet space, it's in a place where I feel safe, (I am considerably more paranoid than the average person, so this was a biggy), and did I mention, it's our own place?! We got a really good deal on the rent too.

This brings me to the next event in March, my birthday! While Darryl was at work, my mom and I went shopping for decorations for my new place. We went to the Home Goods store in Salt Lake. I LOVE that store! I found an oil painting that I fell in love with and my mom bought it for my for my birthday. I also bought quite a few of my own presents that day! We had lots of fun. Teagan got to play in one of those shopping carts that are built like cars and he loved it, so he didn't even mind shopping all day.

After that, we met Darryl, my dad, and Garrett at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. It was delicious. I love their food more than their cheesecake so I got my Thai food fix without worrying what part of the chicken I was eating.

After dinner we went back home and I got to put all the decorations in my apartment and then Darryl and Teagan went to bed. I didn't have to work the next day and I don't go to bed at 8:30 like they do, so I went back to my parents house and partied without them! Garrett didn't have school the next day so we stayed up and watched one of my favorite movies, Clue. (Tim Curry at his finest. It's a must see!) Overall, It was a great birthday. I had lots of fun and got spoiled.
